And Then There Were Four…
Ahh, so my pregnant brain has finally made up its mind and chosen the photographs to share. I adore them all, but I had to narrow it down, or else you’d be scrolling endlessly in ‘Shandora’s Box’.
This maternity shoot was extra special to me, because, quite frankly, I thought it wasn’t going to happen at all. My husband had been away on contract flying planes in the Pacific Islands for six months prior and wasn’t scheduled to come home until later this month. Those six months were probably the most challenging months I’d ever had, growing one tiny human, and keeping the other one out of mischief. I kept myself so immersed in my work and the babies, while I eagerly awaited his return. Thoughts of him not coming home on time, before the arrival of our second baby girl, plagued me on those lovely sleepless nights. Oh the joys of pregnancy. Photography is my life. If you know me, I take photographs of EVERYTHING. So not having this memory captured left me all out of sorts.
However, being the sneaky Marine that my husband is, he surprised us one month earlier than his coming home date. (There went my plans to throw him a surprise coming home party hehehe) But I felt such a huge wave of relief. My love had returned safe and sound to us, and I felt whole again. Our little family felt whole again. My sister then immediately said to me, “We should do the maternity shoot now.”
I hope you enjoy these little snippets of my heart, taken at 6 am (sorry Megan), by my incredible sister.
